Trademark Registration UAE – Overview

Trademark Registration UAE protects eligible brand names, logos and other marks through the UAE Ministry of Economy & Tourism. The current service includes examination, publication in the official trademark bulletin, a 30-day objection period and final registration. Protection should be requested for the correct goods/services classes, and applications from owners outside the UAE must be submitted through a registered trademark agent with the required notarised/legalised power of attorney.

Processing Time

The current MoET service card lists 20 working days to study and issue a decision on a regular application. If accepted, the mark is published and a 30-day objection period applies. After that period, the final registration fee must be paid within the prescribed timeframe for the certificate to be issued.

How the Process Works

  1. Check the proposed mark and define the goods/services classes.
  2. Prepare the trademark image, trade licence and POA where required.
  3. Submit the application and pay the examination fee.
  4. MoET examines the application and issues a decision.
  5. If accepted, pay the publication fee and complete the 30-day objection period.
  6. Pay the final registration fee and receive the trademark certificate.
